“They stole his products but not his talent”

‘I am seating on this snubbed the whole day wrapped in my only remaining fabrics recovering as I am emotionally damaged…’ On a sad note, award-winning South African designer, Thando Piliso suffered a significant setback as he was robbed of his clothing products which are estimated to be over 200 000 rands.

According to a press release which was released by Kwathole Conexion on behalf of Thando Piliso, they stated that the robbery was done at Piliso’s production studio which is located in Gqeberha around Sidwell.

In addition to the R200 000 clients’ clothing orders that were stolen the Kwathole indicated that imported machines from China were stolen.

In his social media accounts, Piliso penned down to his family, friends, clients, and fans that he’s grateful for the support that they have given him during such a time.

“Ndibhala Ndimane Ndicima… Ndindombathisile.Bendingayaxi umuntu busekhona. I took some time to read all of your warm messages and deep down I have faith and strength. Today was another day, where I had to let off some of my staff but for a while because u Thixo endimkhonzayo u yabona (The God I worship sees).

The award-winning designer in the press further noted that he will be currently working in a private place which will only be known by his clients.

“My entire collection is now missing, leaving me with no other option but to work from an activated spot that will only be traced to private clients for the time being,” said Piliso.

Despite the setback, Thando is determined to continue with his work and provide his clients with the best possible service.

Piliso is scheduled to showcase at African Fashion in Accra, Ghana in a few weeks to come. Informed the public on social media that he will be creating a new collection with a smile.

“My next collection will be full of smiles because of you. Enkosi ngobubele (I thank you very much). Second time around, I’ll be twice as gold,” he said.

Thando Piliso’s designs are well known for his Xhosa signature. He is also proud of his culture. He has headlined fashion events such as Fashion Without Borders SA and Botswana, and Africa Fashion Week Accra amongst others.
