In Zimbabwe’s vibrant fashion scene, 14-year-old Evelyn Mubochwa is fast becoming a name to watch. Following in the footsteps of her celebrated father, Thembani Mubochwa, Evelyn wowed audiences at Zimbabwe Fashion Week (ZFW) with a collection that seamlessly blended modern trends with an authentic African essence.

“My dad inspired my collection for this year,” Evelyn shared. “I saw something in his clothes that sparked my imagination and helped me shape my designs.”

Her pieces, a mix of formal, casual, and minimalist styles, stood out for their sophistication and cultural depth. “I might not use traditional fabrics,” she explained, “but when the designs come out, they always carry an African touch.

For Evelyn, ZFW was not just a platform but a classroom. “We can dream big and make it happen,” she said, urging young creatives to pursue their passions. “If I started showcasing at 14, imagine what children of 10 can achieve in the future.

Despite facing challenges during the finishing process of her designs, Evelyn remained focused, drawing strength from her father’s advice. “Be patient, take your time, and love what you do,” she said, words she now shares with aspiring designers.

Her recent collaboration with Jah Prayzah marked another highlight, and she dreams of one day dressing global icons like Diamond Platnumz and showcasing at New York Fashion Week.

Now in her third year of showcasing at ZFW, Evelyn Mubochwa continues to prove that talent, passion, and perseverance can turn youthful dreams into powerful success stories, stitching together the future of Zimbabwean fashion, one design at a time.
