South African fashion brand MaXhosa Africa is preparing for another appearance in Paris, with the label set to take part in the official Paris Fashion Week programme on 28 September.
Ahead of the show, Consul General of France in Johannesburg Ambassador Samuel Ducroquet hosted representatives of the media, musical talents and friends of the brand at his home on 21 September.
The gathering came as MaXhosa Africa prepares to present its latest work in Paris, marking another step in the South African label’s international journey.
The brand, founded by designer Laduma Ngxokolo, has built its identity around South African heritage and contemporary fashion. Its designs have often drawn from Xhosa cultural influences while combining traditional references with modern clothing.
For the upcoming Paris presentation, MaXhosa Africa is showcasing its latest collection as part of the official Paris Fashion Week programme.
The Paris appearance is also a significant moment for the South African fashion industry.
The collection and Paris presentation continue MaXhosa Africa’s use of fashion as a way of engaging with African identity, heritage and contemporary culture.
Ambassador Ducroquet also used the occasion to highlight France’s support for cultural and creative industries in southern Africa through the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS).
