Senator David Coltart to bounce back
Former Member of Parliament, Senator, and ex-Minister of Education and Sports, Senator David Coltart might be returning to decision-making bodies this time not as a minister, senator, or member of parliament but as a member of the council of the city of Bulawayo.
This might happen if the former Minister wins the ticket of representing, the Citizen Coalition of Change (CCC) as a council candidate for Ward 5.
Some sources have claimed that the CCC is pushing for Senator David Coltart to become their first Mayor in the city of Kings and Queens.
However for the veteran politician to enter the House of Council in Bulawayo, he has to contest against the sitting Ward 6 council, Tawanda Ruzive for the Ward 5 council Triple C candidate.
In 2018, Tawanda Ruzive was elected to Ward 6 Council for the Bulawayo Municipality under MDC Alliance.
He is one of the sitting councilors who has jumped ship to the Triple C party and left the MDC Alliance which is led by Senator Mwonzora.
When Senator David Coltart was the Minister of Education and Sport, the UN Children’s Fund held an international tender and the cost of books came down to 70 cents from five dollars.
Resultantly, the textbook ratio fell from 1-1 to 15-1 and became one of the best in Africa. During his tenure as Minister of Education, he established a transition to fund that allowed Western Donors and governments to bypass Zimbabwe’s government and help finance the education system directly
