Zimbabwean golfer Stuart Krog secured his first Sunshine Tour victory on Sunday after a stunning final-round performance at the Mopani Zambia Open held at Nkana Golf Club.
Krog finished on five-under par after firing an impressive six-under-par 66 in the final round to edge South Africa’s Jason Roets by one stroke and claim a career-defining title.
The victory marked a remarkable comeback after a difficult start to the tournament. Opening with a four-over-par 76, Krog fought back with rounds of 72 and 69 before producing his best golf when it mattered most.
“It’s something I’ve dreamt of for the last couple of years and I’ve had a couple of close calls. I can’t really process it right now,” Krog said after the win.
Entering the weekend four-over par, the Zimbabwean knew he needed a strong finish—and delivered exactly that.
“I just played dream golf today. I loved every second of it and still can’t believe it,” he added.
The triumph represents a major milestone for Krog and a proud moment for Zimbabwean golf, showcasing the resilience and determination required to succeed at the highest level.
After years of near misses, Krog’s breakthrough victory in Zambia marks the beginning of what could be a new chapter in his professional career.
