Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards (ZAFTA) to Launch Officially on 21 July
Harare, Zimbabwe – The Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards (ZAFTA/ZAFTAs) is set to officially launch on 21 July 2023 at 1100hrs on Zoom. The event will also call for submissions of films, television shows, and other content created from January 2018 to August 2023.
The ZAFTAs 2023 Awards will be held under the theme of “Leveraging Business Synergies for Global Impact”.
The ZAFTAs is a new initiative aimed at recognizing and celebrating the best of the Zimbabwean film and television industry. The awards seek to promote creativity, excellence, and diversity in the industry by recognizing outstanding achievements in various categories such as Outstanding Feature Film, Outstanding Television Show, Outstanding Director, Outstanding Screenplay, and Outstanding Actor/Actress, among others.
The launch event will feature a panel discussion with industry experts and stakeholders from the Zimbabwean film and television industry and the role of ZAFTA in promoting its growth and development. The ZAFTAs will provide an opportunity for the business community and filmmakers; producers, actors, and other industry players to network and connect with each other.
Speaking about the launch, the ZAFTA Publicist, Mr. Richard Tentone, said, “We are excited to officially launch the Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards. Our goal is to recognize and celebrate the best of Zimbabwean film and television, and to promote the industry’s growth and development.
We encourage all filmmakers, producers, and actors to submit their work for consideration and to participate in the ZAFTA 2023 Awards.”

Submissions for the awards are open to Zimbabwean citizens who have produced films, television shows, documentaries, or other content created from January 2018 to August 2023. More information on submission guidelines and categories can be found on the ZAFTA website and social media platforms.
