Nominees for Star FM Listener’s Choice Music Awards Announced

The 5th Edition of the Star FM Listener’s Choice Music Awards are set to take place on the 3rd of May as a radio broadcast and online event. This year’s ceremony is running under the theme “It’s All About the Artist”.

According to the Head of Programming at Star FM, Steve Vickers, the event is a radio and online extravaganza, with no physical attendance. The live show will be experienced only on the digital platforms.

The nominees were announced on the 5th of April, and they all fall under the 1st of Jan 2022 to 31st of December 2022 radio play period. Some songs released in 2021 were put down for considerations as well according to the Star FM team at the press conference, said H1, during the press conference.

The categories are all focused on urban contemporary music. The lifetime achievement award is arrived at through consultative research from stakeholders within the music industry in Zimbabwe. According to RK, Star FM now plays 75% local music, after responding to reasons why they omitted the Rhumba category, and the genre is regarded foreign to Zimbabwe and their target categories.
