From the runway to the screen, multi-award-winning model Kwanele Finch Thusi is making a bold leap into the world of television. The former Mister Africa International South Africa has secured a role in Muvhango, one of South Africa’s most-watched telenovelas, known for showcasing Venda culture.

Thusi, who was recently named African Male Model of the Year at the African Fashion Awards in Lagos, Nigeria, is set to debut on Muvhango in May on SABC 2. Speaking to My Afrika Magazine, he shared excitement about portraying a positive, supportive character that closely mirrors his real-life personality.

“I’m quite happy because the character is a lot like me. I think it’s a good example of who I am,” he said.

Although new to Muvhango, Thusi is no stranger to the screen, having appeared in two reality shows and several documentaries. He sees this role as a natural progression in his career. “It’s not really a challenge anymore. I’ve learned to adapt,” he added.

Beyond acting, Thusi continues to make waves in fashion. His label, Finchwear, recently launched a winter collection, and his signature underwear line is gaining international traction. “We’ve had clients from across the globe, and we’re set to partner with a men’s pageant soon,” he revealed.

Offering advice to aspiring creatives, Thusi said, “Stay humble, stay grateful, learn from those who came before, and always put God first.

Muvhango, which first aired in 1997, explores the tensions between tradition and modernity and has a strong following across Southern Africa, including Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Eswatini. Thusi’s addition to the cast brings fresh energy to the long-running series and marks a new chapter in his ever-evolving career.
