Harare Hosts ‘2024 K Pop Festival’ in Honor of 30 Years of Zimbabwe-South Korea Relations

International Choreographer, John Cole to MC the 2024 K Pop Festival. Zimbabwe and South Korea are poised to commemorate 30 years of diplomatic ties this May.

To mark this milestone, the Korean embassy has organized the ‘2024 K Pop Festival: Show Me Your K’, scheduled for May 22nd, 2024, in Avondale, Harare. This festival aims to showcase both Zimbabwean and South Korean cultures through various artistic performances.

Among the lineup of talented artists set to grace the festival is internationally acclaimed choreographer John Cole, who shared insights with My Afrika Magazine about his dual role as both Master of Ceremony and performer. Cole expressed enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing its potential for fostering cultural exchange and unity between the two nations.

“I am looking forward to the event, I am the Master of Ceremony and I will be performing. Based on everything I will be looking forward to a nice cultural exchange that will give both South Korean and Zimbabwe to bring forth harmony and unity and culture diversity,” said John Cole.

Joining Cole on stage will be renowned artists such as Hope Masike, Salt and Light Crew, and Extreme Dreamers, with the event’s guest of honor being South Korean Ambassador to Zimbabwe, H.E Ambassador Park.

The festival comes at a significant time as Zimbabwe and South Korea continue to strengthen their economic, agricultural, and educational ties. Additionally, it precedes the inaugural Korea-Africa summit, set to be attended by H.E President Mnangagwa in June, underscoring the deepening relationship between the two nations.
