In a bold move to redefine luxury in the skies, Ethiopian Airlines has partnered with Panasonic Avionics Corporation to equip its forthcoming Boeing 777X fleet with Astrova, the latest in in-flight entertainment (IFE) technology. The agreement, announced this week, is a testament to the airline’s ongoing commitment to world-class passenger experience—and to Africa’s growing role in aviation innovation.

The Astrova system will be line-fitted onto eight Boeing 777-9 aircraft, scheduled to join Ethiopian’s fleet beginning in 2028. Known for its cinematic 4K OLED HDR10+ displays and immersive Bluetooth® audio, Astrova promises passengers a truly next-level flying experience.

Astrova’s design considers both form and function—each seat will offer passengers up to 100W USB-C power, programmable LED lighting for ambiance, and intuitive interfaces for a seamless digital experience. The tech-forward system is also engineered to enhance sustainability and efficiency, reflecting modern airline priorities.
