
Mbabane, Eswatini – The 2025 Eswatini National Science Week (ENSW) has concluded with a strong call for innovation that drives social impact. Speaking at the closing ceremony, Minister of ICT, Savannah Maziya emphasized the need for student-driven innovations to tackle real-world challenges such as poverty, climate change, and inequality.
“The greatest innovation is that which not only solves problems but also shows compassion,” said Minister Maziya. “The solutions developed by our students must be applied to address the pressing issues our communities face.”
Held under the theme “Igniting Curiosity, Inspiring Innovation: Science for Sustainable Economic Growth,” this year’s ENSW focused on empowering youth through STEM education, innovation, and digital transformation.
Students, educators, and industry leaders showcased groundbreaking projects in: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, ICT and digital transformation, and Renewable energy solutions.
In a significant move towards gender inclusivity, the event also marked the launch of the Africa Educates Her Campaign, spearheaded by Minister of Education and Training, Owen Nxumalo. The initiative reaffirms Eswatini’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for women and girls in STEM fields.
“This campaign is about breaking barriers and creating an environment where young girls can pursue science and technology careers without limitations,” said Minister Nxumalo.
As Eswatini continues to position itself as a hub for technological advancement, ENSW has proven to be a vital platform for nurturing young innovators. With a strong push for sustainable development through science, this year’s event has set the stage for transformative change.
With the momentum from ENSW 2025, Eswatini looks forward to seeing student innovations move from the lab to the real world, solving Africa’s most pressing challenges.
