Rozalla was born on the 18th of March 1964 in Ndola, Zambia. Her father is of Zimbabwean heritage and had immigrated there in search of better opportunities. She initially settled in Chinhoyi before moving to the city’s capital Harare.
The songstress found early success with five of her songs topping the charts in Zimbabwe before her eventual relocation to the United Kingdom in 1988. Her debut album ‘Spirit of Africa’ received limited release by Tusk Music and spewed the single “Born to Luv” which marked her first entry into international music charts (the song charted at number 126 on the UK singles chart).
Her sophomore album ‘Everybody’s Free’ released in 1992 is currently her most successful album. It charted at number twenty on the UK albums charts and also made appearances on charts in territories such as Australia, Sweden and Switzerland. The follow up singles “Faith (In The Power of Love)” and “Are You Ready to Fly” also enjoyed international airplay and success. Following the success of ‘Everybody’s Free’ Rozalla worked as an opening act for Michael Jackson’s Dangerous Tour during his European dates.

Rozalla has also made music in in jazz and soul style showcasing her diversity and skill to slip into other genres.
In 2009, she pledged her support to Wilmslow-based charity ‘All Star Kids’ that focuses on supporting children in Africa in areas such as funding teachers in Zambia and supporting infants born in prison. Her legacy has been awarded the 2021 Star FM Music award for lifetime achievement. In 2016 Billboard magazine ranked her as one of the most successful dance artists of all time. Her song “Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good)” was named one of the 100 biggest 90s dance anthems of All Time by ClubMTV (UK) and won the 1993 WMC International Dance Music Award for “Best hi-NRG 12-inch Single”.
