Babongile takes over Star FM’s primetime slot

In a move that has thrilled Bulawayo radio listeners, popular personality and entertainer Babongile Sikhonjwa has joined Star FM, taking over the coveted 6 pm slot formerly held by DJ Ollah 7. The announcement was made by Zimpapers Radio Station General Manager Comfort Mbofana during the Bulawayo Awards.

DJ Ollah 7’s departure from the station left a void in the primetime slot, with many wondering who would fill his shoes. Mbofana seized the opportunity to reveal the exciting news that Babongile Sikhonjwa would be joining the station as their new after-drive show host.

“I am here to express my gratitude to Bulawayo for giving us, Star FM, our next best presenter for one of our primetime shows,” Mbofana stated. “I am delighted to announce that the presenter is one of your own, from Bulawayo to Zimbabwe to the world, our very own Babongile Sikhonjwa!”

Sikhonjwa, who is known for his infectious energy and witty personality, will be taking over the show from Monday to Wednesday, every evening from 6 pm to 9 pm. In his acceptance speech, he promised listeners that he would be showcasing Bulawayo music and broadcasting exclusively in IsiNdebele, the local language.

Sikhonjwa had earlier hinted at the career development on his Facebook page, posting the cryptic message, “Is it possible that I could be sounding good all the time?”

The new host brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously worked as a presenter for Skyz Metro, Keyona, and NRTV. He is also an award-winning comedian and MC, renowned for his ability to engage audiences with his humor and charm.
