OPINION By ChieChie:

Nigerian Afropop/R&B sensation Ayra Starr and Zimbabwe’s very own songstress Tamy Moyo shared the stage last week at the Sunshine Cup at Borrowdale Racecourse, in Harare. The show was a combination of fashion, food, music, and racing all in one place.

The girls delivered on their sets with some amazing energy and engagement with their fans.

Tamy paid a tribute to Garry Mapanzure during her show which was an emotional moment for the crowd. Also, with Arya’s star, there were a lot of singalongs in the crowd. Despite not having to use live bands as many people like, they still killed it.

However, many people felt shortchanged by Ayra’s performance as it was very short. Social media users criticized the Rush hitmaker for not performing with a live band. Some even commented that it felt like the crowd was performing for her rather than the other way around.

The event was a beautiful showcase, and served its own niche, making people celebrate the ‘hidden culture’. It was chilled vibes, a resemblance of the early UnpluggedZW days. The promoters managed their time well throughout the event.

The food section was the best as it had a variety of service providers who ticked most ‘standard’ boxes. I never saw people complaining about food being bad or late as compared to other events.

Noticeably, this time many people let us down fashion-wise we still have a long way to go or maybe the organizers should detect on type of dressing otherwise no entry.
