SPOTLIGHT – He has been described as the combination of Pharrel Williams and Young John. He has a voice that will have you hocked from beginning and charisma to carrying across any crowd. His name is ApriilL and he is a rising Sierra Leonean singer, songwriter and producer who is thriving despite the limited opportunities that are often afforded African artists. He first began recording his music in 2018 after he finished school and since then his catalogue is growing steadily with impressive music. 

The young musician has released a four track EP titled ‘Never Better’ in 2022 which features stand out singles such as “Lone Wolf” Lone Wolf-Never Better Ep- Track 3. and “Go Away” Go Away -Never Better EP. -Track 4. “Lone Wolf” is described as a heartfelt song that speaks of the trouble of listening to external voices of the world which often try to control you. “Go Away” is a track which shoos away any negativity that may face the song’s protagonist. Overall, the EP showcases his smooth vocals and his ability to captivate listeners with his talent.

Other stand out singles from the crooner include the song “Girlfriend” which is a song adoring the singer’s lover. The song is fast tracked and is accompanied by a music video showcasing the musician’s charism and ability to captivate an audience ApriilL – Girlfriend. 

ApriilL’s most celebrated song is his latest offering titled “O’way” ApriilL – O’way which was released in late 2024. The song incorporates the Temne elements; Temne being an ethnic group which resides in Sierra Leon. The song incorporates elements of African music while blending it with modern day music. The song has seen him claiming the top spot as the most trending artist in Sierra Leon at some point and has also garnered over two hundred thousand streams on Audiomack since its release. The crooner has come forward and said that the song was inspired by his wife who is also a songwriter.
