African National Congress (ANC) is one of Africa’s oldest revolutionary party. The elective conference was held at a time when the citizens of South Africa are facing a power struggle in terms of electricity while the ruling power is facing its own ‘political power struggles’ for the past three years.

The elective conference is held at least every five years, as the members of the ANC select their new leader who will be the face of their political party. Ramaphosa was re-elected as head of the party with 2,476 voting, and 1,897 for his rival, former Health Minister Zweli Mkhize.

Soweto is well known as the home of South Africa’s founding father’s, Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela among others. Soweto is also prominent of its theater where drama and play productions are casted.

Cyril Ramaphosa has been viewed as the face of renewal and an anti-corruption champion, since he took over from President Jacob Zuma.

In the past two weeks, the President has been forced on to defensive  after a parliamentary inquiry reported that the president might have committed gross misconduct and even criminal offences after the theft of cash worth between 580 000usd, and 5million from his private game ranch in Limpopo three years ago.

Despite all the allegations CR7 remains the most popular politician in South Africa.

His main rival for the ANC President seat was former Minister of Health, Dr Mkhize who was also accused of being  involved in corruption  and then later excused himself from serving into the government.

Dr Mkhize’s main support  comes from the ANC Kwazulu-natal branches.
