A Harare-based events company –OV Events- organized a treat of traditional and culturally-rich festival to celebrate Africa Day on May 25 at Alexandra Sports Club.
Mitambo Festival is an annual event that takes place on Africa day and this year it is set to present a lot of fireworks and nostalgic activities that aim to calm an individual and bring families together.
The festival’s event coordinator, Junior Bakasa, said this year’s event is expected to be huge considering a sabbatical due to covid 19 induced lockdowns.
“Mitambo Festival is set to return on the 25th of May on Africa to celebrate Indigenous Games, music and food. The festival was launched in 2019 with more than 2000 resellers gracing the event. This year more than 6000 people are expected to come through for a day filled with funfair and happiness. We are excited to be back after being away for two years due to Covid 19. We are looking forward to great numbers of people to come through especially after the lockdown,” she said.
Following many pandemics and losses globally, there is need for people to let loose and enjoy with their family and friends.
Bakasa also said: “The day will include recreational games like raka raka, hwishu, maflawu and also maboozer. There will be larger than life jumping Castles for both adults and kids as well. Something for everyone. It’s nothing serious just fun and laughter to unwind. Revellers are also encouraged to bring their cooler boxes but drinks and food will be sold inside. This is a day for every member of the family to come and have fun and we welcome everyone to grace the event.”
The premium outdoor experience is going to be hosted at Alexandra Sports Club in Harare with Songstress Feli Nandi headlining the event. She will be supported by Harare’s hottest DJ’s and Mc’s, the likes of McTatts, MadeHerBelieve and Andile Brown to mention but a few.
The event planners have also dropped in Enjoyment 5.0, DJ’s currently studying at University of Zimbabwe as a way of promoting youth in the entertainment industry.
