Sports, Arts, and Recreation Minister Kirsty Coventry extended her appreciation to Geo Pomona Waste Management Pvt Ltd for its investment in cutting-edge sports facilities, including a FIFA-certified soccer pitch, basketball, and tennis courts in Pomona.

These facilities will be accessible to the public. Following a tour of the recreational infrastructure at the Geo Pomona site on Monday afternoon, Minister Coventry emphasized the significance of private sector involvement in community development. She expressed gratitude to companies like Geo Pomona Waste Management Pvt Ltd for their role in advancing community initiatives.

“We are grateful for private companies such as Geo Pomona Waste Management Pvt Ltd for spearheading community development efforts,” Minister Coventry remarked. “The government relies on the support of private players to complement its efforts. With facilities now open to the public, I extend a heartfelt thank you from the Ministry of Sports to Geo Pomona Waste Management Pvt Ltd. We cannot accomplish everything on our own, and it’s heartening to witness the private sector stepping up to support sports.”

Minister Coventry marveled at the remarkable transformation of the once odorous dumpsite into a meticulously maintained facility. She commended Geo Pomona and its team for their dedication to revitalizing the area.

“It’s incredible to see the transition from a massive dumpsite to this high-standard, internationally recognized astroturf,” Minister Coventry remarked. “I want to express my gratitude to Geo Pomona and their team for their commitment to enhancing sports and recreation.”

Dilesh Nguwaya, the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman of Geo Pomona Waste Management Pvt Ltd, disclosed that plans are underway to construct terraces, changing rooms, and a restaurant at the facility. He emphasized the significance of the facility, noting that it would serve as a training ground for the national team and other teams utilizing similar turf.

“The addition of a restaurant, stands, and changing rooms is part of our ongoing development plans for this site,” Mr. Nguwaya stated.
