12 years later, Long John’s dream unstoppable

US-Zimbabwean stand up comedian Long John aka Learnmore Jonasi won the Boston Comedy Festival at the Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre in Boston. This comes after his debut performance at the historical The Apollo Theater, Harlem NYC.

The festival is held for a week, consisting of an elimination-style tournament. Long John (Learnmore Mwanyenyeka) came out tops of the 9 finalists and shared the news with his followers on twitter.

In the auditorium during his acceptance speech, Learnmore Mwanyenyeka who doubles as an actor.

Described his win as a dream come true.


“I just want to say thank you so much Boston Comedy Festival this is amazing. This was a dream all the way from my village. Twelve years ago I used to dream to do this now. I’m traveling the world and making people laugh,” he said.

He also shared on his socials a picture with the Legendary director Topper Carew the co-creator of The Martin Show.

Learnmore is an award winning comedian. In 2017, he won the National Arts Merit Award’s Outstanding Comedian Of the Year, The People’s Choice Award in Steve Harvey’s Stand Up Spotlight Competition.
In 2020, he was awarded NAMA’s Outstanding Comedian Of The Year.
