A freelance journalist Judith Nyuke (39) died yesterday, after being struck by a Geo Pomona truck along Harare Drive near Art Farm in Pomona, Harare.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 PM on Saturday, 19 September, 2026.

In a press statement issued by Geo Pomona, they confirmed the incident with profound sadness and expressed its condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, colleagues and the wider media community.

The company said it has initiated an internal review and is cooperating fully with the relevant authorities as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident continue.

“Geo Pomona takes this incident with the utmost seriousness,” the company said, adding that it would approach the matter with responsibility, transparency and respect for all those affected.

Geo Pomona said it remains committed to engaging with the bereaved family and providing appropriate support during the difficult period.

The tragic death has also left colleagues and members of the media community mourning the loss of a fellow journalist.
