Zimbabwean long-distance runner, Issac Mpofu’s celebration came early to an end as he was disqualified.
Despite finishing first Mpofu became the last men in the race. Mpofu’s disqualification was confirmed by the Athletics South Africa who are part of the Durban International Marathon.
The Durban International Marathon organisers said Mpofu’s disqualification was conducted because he had one license number which was placed in the front of his vest but there was nothing on his back of his shirt at the finish line.
Mpofu in addition he lost the R50 000 prize to South African runner Tumelo Motlagale who was declared as the new title holder. The Durban International Marathon organisers congratulated Tumelo as they described him as a champion of the day.

In other news prominent Zimbabwean mixed martial arts fighter Nicholas Hwende continues to fly his nation flag high. Martial arts Fighter Hwende faced off with Angolian Eduardo Barros in Johannesburg on Saturday night.
The two were battling out in a fight, for the EFC championship. According to Zim Sports Connect, Hwende said his next target is a title fight in the Bantam Weight Division.
Hwende Debuted in the EFC last year a winnner over SA’s Themba Mkhize in August followed by a win against Ireland and based Zimbabwean Take Mhandu in November, in other sad news for team Zimbabwe, having finished 42.2 km run in 2hrs 10mins and 4 seconds.
