Spotlight: Maquo – young, gifted and ready
Hailing from Domboshava and now living in Harare, Zimbabwe, Maquo is an upcoming singer whose talent is sure to prepare a seat for him in this world. With a voice eager to be heard and a star that grown brighter with each new leap he makes, the twenty-four-year-old (24) showman is set for success.
Maquo began singing in the church and became well known for his vocal ability. As he grew, music took a back seat, and he paid more attention to honing his soccer skills. However, with time his passion for creating melodies resurfaced and he has been chasing his passion ever since. He recalls the first time he ever recorded in a studio was with only a dollar to offer the producer.
“It was a rap track. I enjoyed the session although I felt like an idiot. The producer loved my vocals, he just knew it was my first time, so he wanted me not to waste much of his time.”
Thus far, the young crooner has released music on YouTube. The single “Kana Ndada” is a song of unrequited love for a lover who does not reciprocate his love. “Pinky Swear” is love song backed with a trap beat and is a song about the promises one makes to his lover. “Ayana” is a track is a single that details devotion and dedication to one’s lover.
All the videos for his music are tastefully done, setting a standard of excellence that the singer can build upon. His vocal ability is evident in each piece of music that he sings.
“My music inspires the inner person to believe in truth, to believe in passion, it may be love it may be some other dream, anything that makes like beautiful.”
The singer so far plans to continue releasing music and growing his fan base. “I got too much to offer.” Indeed, the crooner has a blazing talent that the world is receiving with time.
