In Remembering Mai Ngoromani: Elita Gochera

Zimbabwe lost an exceptionally talented female Elita Gochera who starred as Mai Ngoromani in the 1990s popular comedy TV series “Paraffin”.

She was 80.

She died on Thursday from suspected kidney failure.

The olden day’s drama “Paraffin” remains one of the best local television productions that had the combination of the late Phillip Mushangwe (Paraffin) and Rhoda Mtembe (Mai Sorobhi) who was always hilarious.

Mai Ngoromani made flawless scenes that were not only comical but also mirrored social issues.

‘Imi aParaffin rwarai zvakanaka’ and ‘Asi imi aParaffin hamunete nekutaura’

She also acted in the ZTV drama “Pfuma Yenhaka Inoparadza Ukama” as Magadarena.

Paraffin created a street language to suit any mood, leaving viewers amused.

In local dramas, we have childhood stars who were actors and actresses and Gogo Gochera is one of them who will always be remembered in the film industry with her bubbly, comical, candid, and easy-going character.
