The Kingdom of Eswatini has been elected to the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council (PSC) for the 2025-2028 term, representing the Southern African region. The election took place during the 46th Executive Council Meeting of the AU this week.
His Majesty King Mswati III expressed gratitude to AU Member States for endorsing Eswatini’s election during the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of AU Heads of State and Government. The King reaffirmed Eswatini’s commitment to fostering peace, security, and stability across Africa in collaboration with other nations.
“We are humbled by this trust and remain committed to working tirelessly in advancing peace and stability across our continent,” said King Mswati III.
He stressed the need for proactive conflict prevention measures, stronger resolution mechanisms, and enhanced early warning systems to curb crises before they escalate. He also emphasized the AU’s critical role in mediation and peacebuilding efforts across Africa.
Eswatini’s election to the 15-member AU Peace and Security Council reinforces its growing role in continental peacekeeping initiatives, with a focus on diplomacy, dialogue, and regional stability.
