TR: What was going through your mind when you were crowned Mister Mpumalanga, and what does this title mean to you?
SG: When my name was called, it felt like time stood still. It was a mix of disbelief, gratitude, and pride. This title is not just a crown, it is a responsibility, a platform, and a symbol of hope for every young man who dares to dream in Mpumalanga.
TR: Your journey to becoming Mister Mpumalanga is truly inspiring. Can you share your most memorable moment so far?
SG: The most memorable moment was during one of our outreach programs, where I saw firsthand how our presence and words inspired young boys. That day, I realised the true power of this platform. It is not about the stage, but about the change we can create beyond it.
TR: As a strong advocate for fitness and mental health awareness, how do you plan to use your platform to impact young men in Mpumalanga?
SG: I plan to launch community fitness bootcamps combined with mental health workshops. The goal is to create safe spaces for young men to build physical strength and mental resilience because true strength is a balance of both.
TR: Your passion for fitness is evident in everything you do. Can you tell us about your fitness routine and how you stay motivated?
SG: I train five to six days a week, mixing strength training, cardio, and mindfulness practices. What keeps me motivated is knowing that my consistency can inspire others. I remind myself daily: my discipline is someone else’s motivation.
TR: You are not just a pageant winner, but also an aspiring entrepreneur and fitness instructor. How do you balance your various pursuits and passions?
SG: Time management and purpose-driven action are key. I set clear goals for each role I play and ensure they align with my core values. I also believe in building strong teams, no dream is achieved alone.
TR: What sets you apart from other contestants, and what unique qualities do you bring to the table as Mister Mpumalanga?
SG: Authenticity, resilience, and relatability. I do not pretend to be perfect, I represent the real challenges young men face, and I strive to be a living example of growth, vulnerability, and transformation.
TR: Can you share a particularly challenging experience you have faced, and how you overcame it to become the person you are today?
SG: There was a time I battled silently with anxiety and self-doubt. It was through fitness, journaling, and opening up to a mentor that I started healing. That experience made me stronger and gave me a deeper understanding of mental health, which I now advocate for.
TR: As Mister Mpumalanga, you will be meeting with various stakeholders and community leaders. What do you hope to achieve from these interactions, and how do you plan to make a lasting impact?
SG: I hope to build meaningful partnerships that drive youth development and wellness initiatives. I want to be remembered not just as someone who showed up, but as someone who delivered real, sustainable impact.
TR: Your platform gives you the opportunity to showcase the beauty and culture of Mpumalanga. What aspects of the province are you most proud of, and how do you plan to promote them?
SG: Mpumalanga is a treasure from our breathtaking landscapes to our culture. I am proud of our people’s warmth and resilience. Through social media, collaborations, and events, I will highlight both our natural beauty and our untapped talent.
TR: What advice would you give to young men who may be struggling to find their purpose or passion, and how can they use their unique talents to make a positive impact?
SG: Start where you are, with what you have. Your story matters. Purpose is not always loud, sometimes it is found in the small, consistent steps. Use your pain, your passion, and your voice to uplift others. That is how impact begins.
TR: Can you tell us about your plans for your reign as Mister Mpumalanga, and which initiatives or projects you are most excited about?
SG: I am excited to launch the “Mind and Muscle Movement”, a project focused on combining mental wellness with physical fitness. I also plan to mentor young boys in rural areas, promoting education, confidence, and leadership.
TR: Looking back on your journey, what are you most grateful for, and what do you hope your legacy will be as Mister Mpumalanga?
SG: I am most grateful for every “no” that redirected me to my true path. I hope my legacy is one of inspiration, action, and impact and that I sparked something in others to believe in themselves and to rise.
