The city of Masvingo came alive with literature, inspiration, and celebration on Friday, 24 July 2026, as RASA Private College hosted the official launch of ‘What Goes Around, Comes Around,’ the debut solo anthology by Masvingo-based educator and storyteller Austen T. Hakunavanhu.

The event attracted an impressive gathering of students, literary enthusiasts, community leaders, family members, and guests from across Masvingo and beyond. With the venue filled, the launch reflected the growing appreciation for local literature and the important role storytelling continues to play in society.

Edited and published by ZUVA Printers in collaboration with the #my-Words Poetry Movement, What Goes Around, Comes Around explores themes of consequence, personal choice, responsibility, and community. The anthology invites readers to reflect on the impact of their actions while encouraging meaningful conversations about everyday life.

One of the highlights of the launch was an engaging panel discussion featuring Mrs. M. Mapanga, Dr. G. Gwindingwi, and Dr. E. Rutoro, who offered thoughtful insights into the book’s themes, literary significance, and relevance to contemporary society. Their discussion set the tone for an afternoon filled with reflection and intellectual engagement.

The event was graced by Hon. Minister E. R. Chadzamira, who attended as the Guest of Honour, alongside distinguished guests including Dr. Bishop O. Goronga, Dr. E. Muresherwa, Ms. V. Dhengezela, Ms. G. Muchono, and Mrs. S. Mhike. The programme was expertly directed by Mrs. J. B. Rukato as Master of Ceremonies, with Ms. M. Mashuro and Ms. G. Mashavakure overseeing welfare arrangements.

The panel discussions, poetry readings from RASA Pvt College students, and testimonies and addresses from the special guests and the author’s family reminded everyone that stories have power. WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND is more than a book – it is a mirror, a lesson, and a call to action.

More than simply marking the release of a publication, the launch affirmed that What Goes Around, Comes Around is a work intended to spark dialogue and encourage readers to reflect on the choices that shape individuals and society. It stands as both a literary achievement and a call for thoughtful action.

The anthology is currently available in Harare and Masvingo, with plans underway to release an e-book edition and expand distribution to major towns, bookstores, and libraries across Zimbabwe.
