Zimbabwe is set for an exciting cricket series when Australia comes to Harare for three One Day International matches against the Chevrons this September. The two teams will play on 15, 18 and 20 September at Harare Sports Club.

The return of Australia is a welcome spectacle for the Chevron fans. It has been more than a decade since the “Baggy Greens” last came to Zimbabwe for an ODI series.

The Chevrons will have a tough job on their hands when they face one of the biggest teams in world cricket. However playing against Australia also gives Zimbabwe a chance to see where they stand against a strong international side.

The home crowd could also play its part. Zimbabwe’s players will be hoping for good support from the stands as they try to put up a strong fight against the visitors. Australia will also be using the series as part of its preparations for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. However for Zimbabwe, there is also something bigger at stake.

Hosting a team like Australia puts the local game in the spotlight and gives young cricket fans a chance to see some of the world’s top players playing in Harare. The series could also be a good test for Zimbabwe’s batting and bowling.

Big international teams do not visit Zimbabwe every week, so having Australia in Harare gives fans a chance to come out, watch the action and support the national team. All three matches will be played at Harare Sports Club.
