One evening while I was feeling a little homesick, I decided to have a look at YouTube for videos of Zimbabwe. I searched for Gweru, a charming little town that I have always been fascinated by and came across a vlog which showcased Gweru’s far and wide reach.

As I continued to watch the vlog, I saw videos which ranged from Harare, Bulawayo, Victoria Falls, Chinhoyi and Nyanga. The channel’s name is called ‘Kaya’s Gogo’ and is hosted by a retired nurse named Sibongile who aims to share Africa with the world. Some of the episodes available on the channel include how to make Zimbabwean cuisine, farming in Zimbabwe, fashion and popular travel destinations in Zimbabwe.

Through her vlog, the intricacies and many offerings of Zimbabwe are put on full display for the world to watch. The content has also showcased other nations such as Ghana and Uganda.

The lives of Zimbabweans in the diaspora (The United Kingdom, the United States and Canada) have also been showcased during the host’s many travels.

The channel now boasts of over eleven thousand subscribers and close to nine hundred thousand views. Through her wanderlust, the host showcases the beauty of not only Zimbabwe but of Africa and the world at large while also highlighting the joy of getting to know the world around you.
