Glamis Stadium was packed with fans from all over the country who came to attend the controversial Kingdom World Tour, featuring Maverick City, Kirk Franklin, and Tim Godfrey, known for his viral song “Big God.” The event opened with local gospel artist Ezekiel Paul, followed by New Life Church’s choir, Covenant Praise. Bulawayo’s Vocal Ex energized the crowd, leading them in a chant: “On your marks, get set, are you ready for Jerusalem?

Popular gospel artist Annatoria, who was initially scheduled to perform, made a guest appearance but was met with boos from the crowd, who shouted “Dzokera” (go back). Annatoria, along with Takesure Zamar and Thembelami, had withdrawn from the lineup at the last minute, amid social media speculation about the faith of the main performers.

Bishop Tudor Bismark ushered the event through a time of prayer.

Unlike most local shows, the crowd did not have to wait long for the main acts. Kirk Franklin delivered an energetic performance, mixing in hip hop moves throughout his set. He performed popular hits like “My Life Is in Your Hands,” “Smile,” and “Lean on Me.” Franklin took time to address the crowd about his faith, sharing his personal story of being abandoned by his birth parents, adopted, and becoming a father at 17, giving all the credit to Jesus Christ for being with him through the challenging times.

It was Tim Godfrey’s first time in Zimbabwe, and he ensured the crowd received a world-class performance. He led the crowd in the “Big God” viral TikTok dance and performed his latest song, “Omema,” featuring Chandler Moore.

As usual, Maverick City outdid themselves with performances of their hit songs “Jireh,” “Firm Foundation,” “Wait on You,” and “The Story I’ll Tell.” Naomi Raine, who is also part of the “Better Together” podcast on TBN, took some time to encourage young people in ministry to never be afraid to put their life on the line for God, reminding them that He will be with them just as He was with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fire.

The event was organized by events by GEC.
