The United Nations (UN) Tourism is set to host the first ever gastronomy tourism forum for Africa in Zimbabwe’s most popular resort town, Victoria Falls. The event is set to take place from 26-28 July.

Gastronomy tourism is defined as a visitor’s exploration of food during their visit. The forum’s patron is the nation’s First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa who has championed and worked to promote Zimbabwe’s indigenous cuisine; Zimbabwe hosts the Regional Traditional Gastronomy Festival. Basque Culinary Centre is also on board as co-organisers of the event.

Delegates from other African nations such as Tunisia, Rwanda and Ghana to mention a few, are also set to land in the resort town to engage in panel discussions, pitch events and presentations on how to map a way forward for gastronomy tourism to act as a sustainable development model for the African continent and it’s local communities.

The UN Tourism Africa Gastronomy Forum is expected to bring together experts and stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality industry, offering a platform to discuss and showcase the rich gastronomic heritage of Africa.
