Zimbabwe stormed to a historic innings-and-73-run victory over Afghanistan at Harare Sports Club on Wednesday, their biggest Test win ever and first home triumph in 12 years. The match ended just after lunch on day three of the one-off Test, marking only Zimbabwe’s third innings victory and their first since 2001.

Afghanistan, resuming on 34 for one and trailing by 198, were blown away by Zimbabwe’s relentless pace attack. Richard Ngarava starred with a superb maiden Test five-wicket haul (5 for 37), while Blessing Muzarabani and Tanaka Chivanga provided lethal support.

Earlier, Zimbabwe’s commanding first-innings total of 359 was built around Ben Curran’s maiden Test century (121), supported by Sikandar Raza (65) and Nick Welch (49).

For Zimbabwe, the emphatic three-day win was more than just a result, it was a statement of resurgence and belief for a side eager to reclaim its place on cricket’s global stage.
