Newly appointed Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) President Nqobile SaNkosi Magwizi has wasted no time in forging key international relationships to rebuild Zimbabwean football.

During the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) 14th Extraordinary General Assembly in Cairo, Magwizi met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who expressed strong support for Zimbabwe’s football revival. Infantino acknowledged the country’s potential and reaffirmed FIFA’s commitment to aiding its return to prominence.

He shared his enthusiasm for Zimbabwe’s football growth potential and reaffirmed FIFA’s commitment to supporting our journey back to the top. His words of encouragement and assurance of support are a major boost as we work towards restoring Zimbabwe’s football legacy. Exciting times lie ahead for our football! Together, we will rebuild and achieve greatness.’ Magwizi shared on his Facebook account.

In a further boost for Zimbabwean football, Magwizi also signed a groundbreaking partnership between ZIFA and the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) this week. The two-year agreement aims to develop football in both nations through various initiatives, including training programs for coaches, referees, and administrators, as well as youth and women’s football development.

The deal also includes arrangements for friendly matches between senior and youth teams and exchange programs to enhance technical expertise. Morocco will provide hosting and support for ZIFA delegations, while Zimbabwe will facilitate Moroccan teams in return.

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in revitalizing Zimbabwe’s football structures and strengthening international ties.
