Lusaka, Zambia – The nation is mourning the loss of Former First Lady Maureen Kakubo Mwanawasa, who passed away on August 13th, at Maina Soko Medical Centre after a short illness. The sad news was confirmed by the Mwanawasa and Kakubo families in a statement released by Hon. Stanley K. Kakubo, MP, who serves as the family spokesperson.

Mrs. Mwanawasa, who was deeply respected and beloved, served as the First Lady during the presidency of her late husband, Levy Mwanawasa, and was known for her contributions to social and community issues in Zambia.
