UN Tourism continues to champion Africa’s tourism growth and unlock the continent’s immense potential. This is a huge win for Africa, as we have managed to make “Brand Africa” a force to be reckoned with.
Interestingly, UN Tourism has made Zimbabwe one of the biggest brand ambassadors for the initiative, the cover image proudly features our majestic Victoria Falls. As one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls stands as a powerful symbol of Africa’s beauty and promise. The Batoka Gorge, which straddles the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, is roughly twice as deep and wide as Niagara Falls, a breathtaking reminder of the continent’s grandeur.
Across southern Africa, remarkable destinations continue to shine. South Africa’s Kruger National Park and Cape Town’s gateway to Robben Island offer unforgettable experiences, while the Table Mountain and Cape of Good Hope provide adventure and serenity in equal measure. Botswana, celebrated for its strong safari conservation efforts, and Malawi, home to the world’s deepest lake, add to the region’s allure.
Heading east, Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park offers the quintessential African savanna experience, best visited between June and October during the Great Migration. The nearby Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest peak, complete the country’s stunning natural portfolio. Off the coast, Zanzibar’s pristine white-sand beaches, such as Malemwe and Kiwenga, await sunseekers from around the world.
Further north, Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve spans over 373,000 acres of protected grassland, while Nairobi, the capital, blends cultural depth with vibrant nightlife. In Egypt, travelers can marvel at the Pyramids of Giza and cruise along the Nile River. A journey through North Africa would be incomplete without visiting Marrakech, Morocco, where visitors can wander through colorful bazaars and enjoy rooftop views of the ancient city.
To the east, Seychelles, with its 115 idyllic islands in the Indian Ocean, continues to captivate luxury travelers, as do the resorts of Mauritius and the biodiversity of Madagascar, home to more than 100 species of the iconic lemur.
UN Tourism’s pan-African initiative stands as a powerful reminder of unity across borders, that together, Africa’s destinations form a collective masterpiece. Our transfrontier parks, the Big Five, the warmth of our people, and our unbeatable climate make Africa not just a destination but a movement.
Africa has arrived, united, confident, and ready to make a statement to the world.
