In a heartwarming display of corporate social responsibility, the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) has once again demonstrated its commitment to community support and engagement. Over the weekend, the organization extended its benevolence to the Malalume community in Plumtree Rural, Matebeleland South Province of Zimbabwe, showcasing a model of how businesses can positively impact the lives of those they serve and not leave communities to solely depend on International Donor and Non-Governmental Organizations.

POTRAZ’s latest initiative involved the installation of a 5 KVA solar system at the Malalume community clinic. This solar system is a game-changer, providing reliable power to the main clinic, which serves not only Malalume but also the neighboring areas of Nswazi, Malopa, and four other surrounding communities. The solar system also ensures that the nurses’ houses are powered, enhancing their living conditions and enabling them to provide better care to the community.

In addition to the solar system, POTRAZ funded the procurement of various essential medicines requested by the clinic. This support is crucial in ensuring that the clinic can meet the healthcare needs of the community, especially in remote areas where access to medical supplies can be challenging. The spirit of giving did not stop there. In the true essence of the festive season, POTRAZ distributed 150 Christmas grocery hampers to the elderly, disabled, and child-headed households in the Malalume community. These hampers are more than just gifts; they are a symbol of hope and care, bringing joy and relief to those who need it most.

POTRAZ’s efforts this quarter have been remarkable, with similar initiatives carried out in four other communities. This consistent support underscores the organization’s belief that the telecommunications sector can only thrive if the communities it serves also thrive.
