President William Samoei Ruto of Kenya held a bilateral meeting with Equatorial Guinea’s Vice-President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony for Ghana’s new President, John Dramani Mahama, in Accra.

During the discussions, President Ruto emphasized the importance of increased investment in agriculture, noting its pivotal role in ensuring Africa achieves food security, in alignment with the Malabo Declaration. He highlighted that robust investment in sectors such as tourism, trade, and infrastructure is crucial for fostering economic growth and enabling the continent to reach its full potential.

The leaders also explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration between Kenya and Equatorial Guinea, particularly in areas of mutual interest such as trade and development. Vice-President Mangue reiterated his country’s commitment to bolstering continental unity and development initiatives.

Notably, Mangue pledged Equatorial Guinea’s support for Hon. Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson position, reinforcing regional solidarity and shared aspirations for a stronger Africa.

President Ruto’s engagement with Vice-President Mangue reflects Kenya’s proactive diplomacy and commitment to fostering partnerships that drive Africa’s development. The meeting underscored the importance of unity and collaboration in addressing the continent’s challenges and unlocking its immense potential.
