Plane crash survivor, to master economist

Kechi Okwuchi is a published author (More Than My Scars) Nigerian born singer, songwriter, Inspirational Speaker, social advocate and business consultant. She is a definition of miracle, survivor and overcomer, breaking more barriers as she pursues her passions.

10 December 2005, Kechi survived a horrific plane crash in Nigeria which killed 107 of the 109 lives on board. She was only 16 at the time.

Kechi sustained 3rd degree burns over 65% of her body and with little hope survival, her healing journey started at Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg, South and then at Shriners Hospitals in Texas, United States, where she received way over 100 reconstructive surgeries.

In 2009 she resumed her high school and then in 2015 graduated with a first class degree in Economics from the University of St. Thomas. 2019 saw her become a finalist on the premiere season of America’s Got Talent with Simon Cowell’s golden buzzer.

With all odds against her, she continues to write her story and recently obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Economics with distinction from the University of St. Thomas.

“I don’t hide behind anything. I don’t hide how I am, how I look from the world. I want people to feel like they can be their genuine selves in any given situation because that’s the way that they’re supposed to be. That’s the way to be really happy in this world,” said Kechi Okwuchi.
