Harare is preparing to witness a revolution in sound and sisterhood. On November 8, 2025, the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) will transform into a stage fit for queens as Nubian Notes 2025 brings together five of Zimbabwe’s most powerful female voices, Tamy Moyo, Feli Nandi, Gemma Griffiths, Nisha Ts, and Shashl, in an all-female concert celebrating African excellence, empowerment, and artistry.

Curated by Connie Mazani, founder of Zar Events, and hosted in partnership with Gateway Stream Media, the concert is described as “a movement, not just a show.” Inspired by the ancient kingdom of Nubia, known for its queens and warriors, the event reimagines women as modern royalty, commanding the HICC with boldness, unity, and unapologetic talent.

“For years, our industry has celebrated men for filling up large venues, but women have been equally brilliant,” said Mazani. “Nubian Notes is about rewriting the story, creating space, and showing that together, women can lead, unite, and inspire. It’s history in the making.”

Among the artists, Gemma Griffiths says performing as part of an all-female lineup is both empowering and long overdue.

“It means so much to be part of this all-female show. It feels good to be surrounded by powerful women doing their thing,” she said. “Our performance is all about love, life, and growth, with that Zimbabwean energy! I hope people leave feeling inspired to be themselves, bold and unapologetic.”

Feli Nandi, known for her soulful Afro-fusion sound, echoed the sentiment. “It’s such a great honour and awesome privilege. All I can say is it was about time, and we are so ready to show that women can definitely do it too!” she said. “Our set will be a full embodiment of Zimbabwean culture and music. We want the audience to leave with a deep appreciation of our roots.”

Meanwhile, Shashl described the concert as a symbol of unity and empowerment.

“Being part of an all-female show is more than just a performance, it’s a statement of strength. It’s about women standing together, celebrating each other’s voices, and breaking the narrative that we must compete to shine,” she said. “Fans can expect an experience, not just a show, energy, emotion, and elegance all in one.”

Headliner Tamy Moyo summed up the spirit of the event, “It’s powerful to stand among women who are rewriting the story of creativity. This show celebrates our strength, softness, and individuality. Every song tells a piece of that shared story.”

With the theme “Mambokadzi: The Rise of Her Sound,” Nubian Notes blends performance, purpose, and pride. It aims to inspire the next generation of young women to take up space in the creative industry and beyond.

Tickets for Nubian Notes 2025 are available via Gateway Stream Media and selected outlets, priced at $15 (standard) and $30 (VIP). Doors open at 5 PM, with the concert starting at 7 PM.

In the words of Connie Mazani, “Five queens. One stage. One powerful statement.”
