South African Reggae Artist and the daughter of the late Lucky Dube, Nkulee Dube is carrying on with the legacy. Having a famous father who made his mark through conscious music inspired Nkulee to follow in his footsteps.

Lucky Dube was one of reggae ‘s most successful legends ever. When he was shot to death on Oct 18, 2007, Nkulee was in the car and witnessed the murder.

The legacy of Lucky Dube, who pioneered a distinct variation of reggae enriched with traditional South African music, lives on through Nkulee, who mixes that sound with a Jamaican feel.

Recently, Nkulee posted on her Instagram page that her band is powering ahead of 2023 touring season.

“The time of year slows things down, however when it seems nothing is happening you just should look behind the scenes to find Nkulee Dube and her band powering ahead in preparation for the 2023 touring season along with new music releases.

“For the moment however, here is this weekend’s Dube Wisdom to make you think a little more about it: Out in the world we find success begins with a persons will. It’s all in the state of mind. If you think you are outclassed, you are. You’ve got to think high to rise, you’ve got to be sure of yourself before you can ever win a prize. Life’s battles don’t always go to the strongest or fastest woman or man, but sooner or later the woman or man who wins is the one who knows they can!”

Lucky Dube was referred to by many as an African reggae icon whose contribution to the history of African reggae dub is revered.

 Long live icon!
