Nigerian daughter named president at Cambridge University

Nigerian born Professor Ijeoma Uchegbu has recently been appointed the 7th president of Wolfson College, a constituent college of the University of Cambridge. She will officially take office on the 1st of October in 2024.

Professor Uchegbu hails from South East Nigeria and holds degrees from the University of Benin (Pharmacy), University of Lagos and the University of London. She is currently a professor in Pharmaceutical Nanoscience at the University College London.

The University of Cambridge has been consistently ranked as one of the top universities in the world. The university is made up of a collection of colleges with Wolfson College, it is reported that Wolfson is the first college at Cambridge to admit both men and women as students and fellows on an equal basis.
