Windhoek, July 2026 — Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of the Republic of Namibia, will embark on a landmark State Visit to the People’s Republic of China from 5 to 11 July 2026, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.
This visit underscores the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Namibia and China — a relationship built on mutual respect, solidarity, equality, and shared aspirations for sustainable development.
The visit comes as Namibia intensifies efforts toward economic transformation, focusing on Industrialisation and value addition, Energy security and green hydrogen, Technology transfer and skills development, Expanded investment opportunities. It also builds on commitments made during the Ninth Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in 2024, where Namibia and China pledged to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah will hold bilateral talks with, President Xi Jinping, The Premier of the State Council, Senior leaders of the Communist Party of China,Provincial and municipal leaders in Guangdong, Shenzhen, Sichuan, and Beijing Discussions will cover priority sectors such as: – Trade and investment – Mining and mineral beneficiation, Manufacturing and agro-processing, Renewable energy and nuclear energy , Education and skills development, Digital innovation and science & technology, Tourism and people-to-people exchanges
Namibia and China enjoy robust economic ties, China is Namibia’s largest overall trading partner. Bilateral trade hit a record N$40.64 billion in 2025, up 10.3% from 2024. Namibia’s exports to China reached N$22.72 billion, creating a trade surplus of N$4.80 billion. In the first four months of 2026, trade totaled N$14.79 billion, with Namibia maintaining a surplus of N$1.55 billion.Exports remain dominated by mineral products (96%), highlighting the need for diversification into agriculture, fisheries, and manufacturing. Imports from China include machinery, industrial equipment, and manufactured goods — vital for Namibia’s infrastructure and industrial growth.
The State Visit will also advance cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and FOCAC outcomes, supporting Namibia’s priorities in Infrastructure development, Housing and healthcare, Water security, Renewable energy, Education and skills transfer
President Nandi-Ndaitwah will tour leading Chinese manufacturing facilities, innovation centers, and industrial enterprises, particularly in Electronics, Telecommunications, Renewable energy and Nuclear energy. She will also headline the Namibia–China High-Level Trade and Investment Conference, featuring, Business-to-business engagements, Exhibitions of Namibian products Networking sessions to expand market access
Beyond economics, Namibia and China continue to collaborate in multilateral forums, advocating for South–South cooperation, Reform of global governance institutions – Promotion of peace, security, and sustainable development. Accompanied by Cabinet Ministers, senior officials, and Namibian business leaders, President Nandi-Ndaitwah’s visit is poised to consolidate Namibia–China friendship while unlocking new opportunities for inclusive growth, innovation, and sustainable development. Her departure is scheduled for 4 July 2026, with return on 12 July 2026.
