The highly anticipated feature film Dunamis, from groundbreaking producer-director Marc T Mandisoul, made its big-screen debut on Saturday, January 31, 2025, at Ster Kinekor Cinemas in Harare.
The glamorous red carpet premiere attracted Harare’s top socialites and personalities from various backgrounds. Among the notable attendees were social media influencer Mai Titi, former Power FM radio personality DJ Scott, Prophetess Prim of Grace World Ministries, former Miss Zimbabwe World Belinda Potts, breakfast radio personalities from ZiFM and Power FM, fellow filmmakers, and many more.
The event saw an impressive turnout, likely due to the aggressive marketing strategy employed by the production team in the lead-up to the premiere.
“The film culture is coming back to Zimbabwe, and we are excited about leading this revolution with top-class red carpet events and partnerships with progressive cinema houses like Nu Metro,” said director Marc T Mandisoul in an interview with My Afrika Magazine.

The release of Dunamis coincides with the arrival of Nu Metro Cinemas, which is set to fill the gap left by Ster Kinekor’s exit from the upmarket Sam Levy’s Village in Borrowdale, Harare. The film is set for a theatrical run at the soon-to-open Nu Metro Cinemas and is also scheduled to premiere in Zimbabwe’s five major cities—an ambitious plan that, if successful, will be a groundbreaking achievement.
Following its cinema cycle, Dunamis is expected to land on Netflix, aligning with the Academy of Motion Picture’s submission requirements. The producers, who are also involved with the Zimbabwe Oscars Committee, have their sights set on submitting the film for consideration in the next edition of the Oscars.
A faith-inspired film based on true events, Dunamis tells the story of a corrupt and violent police detective with a vendetta against the church, determined to bring down the city’s largest ministry. While it is Christian-centric, the film’s themes and storytelling aim to captivate a wider audience, with the production team confident in its ability to stand out on the competitive global stage.
Well done Marc and the team! Am happy for the return to good times of Zim arts industry!
