Renowned transformational speaker and founder of the African Women Empowerment Circle, Jackie Ngarande, is set to participate in the African Union’s prestigious Spearhead Socials With A Purpose (S.W.A.P.) event in Ghana. Scheduled for Friday, November 29, 2024, in Accra, the gathering will explore transformative perspectives on masculinity and gender dynamics across the continent.
The second edition of the S.W.A.P. initiative, themed “Afromantality Night,” focuses on redefining masculinity within an African context. This innovative framework, Afromantality, emphasizes self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and a sense of community responsibility among African men. The event aligns with International Men’s Month, Youth Month, and serves as a prelude to the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
Participants, including influential leaders, rising stars, and public figures, will engage in intergenerational dialogues aimed at fostering personal growth and promoting gender equality.
Jackie Ngarande expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the discussion.
“I’m deeply honoured to accept this invitation from the African Union. Being part of the S.W.A.P. initiative not only inspires me but also invigorates my commitment to empowering our communities. Together, we can foster positive change, uplift those around us, and create a brighter future for all,” she said.
Ngarande’s platform, the African Women Empowerment Circle, has provided a space for storytelling and transformation, particularly for marginalized women and girls. During the event, she will highlight the role of storytelling in reshaping narratives about masculinity and its impact on the next generation.
“As the founder of the African Women Empowerment Circle, I am committed to creating spaces that uplift voices and encourage transformative change. I am excited to share insights and learn from fellow leaders as we explore the immense potential of positive masculinity,” Ngarande added.
As the world prepares for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Ngarande emphasized the importance of engaging men as allies in dismantling harmful gender norms and promoting gender equality.
“The S.W.A.P. event is a powerful step toward building a more equitable society,” she said.
The S.W.A.P. event reflects the African Union’s broader mission to encourage open and honest conversations in a relaxed social environment. Through initiatives like this, the AU aims to spark meaningful change and foster inclusive solutions for the continent’s pressing challenges.
As Jackie Ngarande takes her place among Africa’s changemakers in Accra, her insights and experiences are poised to inspire transformative conversations that will resonate far beyond the event itself.
