It’s a fashion week in Cape Town from AFI Cape town Fashion Week to SA Men’s Wear Fashion which opened its curtains on the Friday the 31st of March and shutting down their curtains on the 1st of April.
Joining more than 50 designers at SA Menswear Week were two South African fashion designing icons, Mzukisi Mbane and Nyambo Masa Mara, the pair had their brands showcased last week at the AFI Cape Town Fashion Week.
Imprint, which is headed by Mzukisi Mbane, presented his A/W 23 collection which will be titled, “Buyel’ekhaya’ in English its translated as Homecoming.
The collection can be traced from the brand’s Spring/Summer collection which was titled ‘Postcards from Africa’.
In an interview with an online South African magazine, Mzukisi Mbane said that the collection which he presented, tells the story of different African characters in different parts of the world at different times, from different tribes. All inspired by the idea of coming home.
In the collection Mzukisi showcased classic silhouettes which are a symbol of going home.
“This collection has a very warm energy, very comforting and very inclusive. A true definition of home,” said Mzukisi Mbane
Masa Mara also used his designs in telling a unique African story.
At the AFI fashion Week Cape Town, his collection caught the attention of everyone who attended the event and those who watched online.
The two showcased their designs on the 1st of April at the closing day of creative showcases.
