From Midlands to Manila is the story of Munashe Siyanata, who is regarded in Zimbabwe’s modeling sector as the man of the moment. He has made history as the first model to physically represent Zimbabwe at an international modeling pageant, Mister Heritage, which is being held in Manila, Philippines.

My Afrika Magazine had an exclusive interview with Mister Heritage Zimbabwe Director, Shelton Chiyangwa, who is accompanying King Munashe Siyanata in Manila. Upon their safe arrival on Wednesday, 14 May, in Manila, Shelton informed My Afrika Magazine that they are ready and excited to represent the nation on such an extraordinary platform.

“I feel very excited about the readiness of our candidate, King Munashe Siyanata. He is also likely feeling a mix of excitement and nerves as he prepares to compete against other talented individuals from around the world. His expectations probably revolve around showcasing Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage and promoting national pride. We hope to make a lasting impression on the international stage,” said Mister Heritage Zimbabwe Director, Shelton Chiyangwa.

He further shared that King Munashe’s main strategy is to showcase Zimbabwe’s values and culture, and to promote national pride.

“The strategy is very simple, to highlight the country’s unique traditions, diverse customs, and values. We also aim to promote our national pride through him embodying the spirit of Zimbabwe and its great people. Munashe is very confident and full of charisma, displaying charm and electrifying magic on stage,” added Chiyangwa.

Munashe also told My Afrika Magazine that he is determined to represent Zimbabwe to the fullest and to show the world that Zimbabwe is a great country and tourist destination. He said he plans to combine this with his advocacy work focused on issues affecting the boy child.

Meanwhile, Mister Heritage Zimbabwe Director Shelton Chiyangwa has urged Zimbabweans to rally behind King Munashe. He also called on the public to support him in the People’s Choice competition.

“As we prepare for the finale, I wish to urge all Zimbabweans at home and abroad to rally behind Munashe. Please vote for him using the link provided on all our social media platforms. We want him to bring the title home. He is candidate number 11. Let u support him for the People’s Choice Award by voting at: https://misterheritage.1voting.com,” pleaded Chiyangwa.

Mr. Chiyangwa also encouraged King Munashe to remain focused and disciplined, expressing gratitude for his modeling journey.

“What will be key for our candidate is to remain focused, disciplined, and remember that he carries the aspirations of the entire country with him. We have every confidence in him and no doubt he will make the nation proud.

“We also extend our sincere appreciation to our sponsors, Runako Brand, who are dressing him, as well as She Millionaire, Webber Coaches, Rockers Island Productions, MiCoffee, and many others who have supported this project from day one,” said Mr. Chiyangwa.

Shelton also mentioned that he plans to use this trip to network with other pageant directors and gather insights that will benefit Zimbabwe’s male modeling sector.

The Mister Heritage 2025 event is scheduled to begin on 15 May, with the grand finale and coronation set for 20 May.
