RABAT, Jan. 27 – The Final Draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 has unveiled an exciting lineup of groups, setting the stage for Africa’s premier football competition. Held at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat, the star-studded ceremony determined the paths for the 24 qualified teams vying for the continent’s most prestigious trophy.
The tournament, scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, will be played across six cities and nine stadia in Morocco. Hosts Morocco headline Group A, where they will battle Mali, Zambia, and Comoros in what promises to be a tightly contested pool.
Group B features seven-time champions Egypt, who will face South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe, while Group C pits Nigeria against Tunisia and East African duo Uganda and Tanzania, co-hosts of the 2027 edition.
Reigning champions Senegal lead Group D against DR Congo, Benin, and Botswana, while 2019 winners Algeria face Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan in Group E. Defending champions Côte d’Ivoire will look to retain their title in a thrilling Group F, where they meet five-time winners Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique.
The top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, will progress to the round of 16. The draw, broadcast in over 90 countries, featured African football legends Serge Aurier, Aliou Cissé, Joseph Yobo, and Mustapha Hadji.
This marks the first time Morocco has hosted the AFCON since 1988, setting the stage for an unforgettable showcase of African football excellence.
