“I’m passionate about living life to the fullest,” says Jasper Mhishi, a creative driven by curiosity and constant self-improvement.
My Afrika Magazine reporter Lingiwe Sifelani (LS) had a moment with Jasper (JM) to discuss his career and the creative tools he implements.
LS: What are you passionate about?
JM: I’m passionate about living to the fullest in that whatever I put my mind to, I do it. I love reading, watching podcasts, travelling, networking, creating, producing, and photography. All these are merely creative tools to always learn and outlearn myself and be better than I was last.
LS: Please tell us about yourself. Who is Jasper Mhishi?
JM: I define myself not by what I can do but by who I am in Christ. I am a multidimensional human being. I am a man who believes in Christ and in the relationship with God, so it’s easy for me to connect with other people. I am a man who loves my country, countrymen, and countrywomen. This is because I believe that this nation is blessed, and we have the capacity to achieve anything we put our minds to. That’s why I’m always talking about building personal economies or saying #Hande, meaning ‘let’s go’ for those dreams. I always love to challenge people around me to be better.
LS: According to the passions you mentioned before, have you in any way been able to accomplish them? Please explain
JM: Most of them, yes. Things to do with videography and photography are still the places I enjoy operating from.
LS: How does being a Christian help you in your pursuits of life?
JM: It has always helped me in my relationships. I use the ‘HOT’ (Honest, Open, and Transparent) principle. Connecting vertically first, that is, with God, is the most important. Horizontal follows as I connect with my peers and people around me. So if these elements are aligned, that’s what matters and helps me achieve my life goals.
LS: How did you come up with your business name, DreamWall Pictures?
JM: The name was born from my vision boards, which I made as a young boy. What my friends and I did after school in Glen Norah was to attend trips to the most affluent suburbs like Avondale to see different places, get exposure, and opportunities to see people living South of Samora. This helped shape my perspective on life possibilities. After the little tours, we came back, sat down, and read a business magazine that was called Success Magazine, and gave each other assignments just to challenge ourselves on our goals and plans. We read what billionaires of that time were doing, we read about Richard Branson, Donald Trump, and many others.
So what it did for me personally was that, when I got into this industry in 2011, I believed in the power of seeing things and yourself in a place where you are supposed to be, even before you get there. The vision boards inspired my vision for DreamWall Pictures. By faith, I could see it before I became it.
LS: With the advent of AI, has it been an advantage to you or a challenge as you build your brand? Please explain
JM: Personally, I have advantages only; I now work efficiently and fast. I’m realising there are things I could not do as a creative that I can now do, so there’s no excuse not to succeed. By the way, AI is a tool; learning it helps me be more strategic and scale my workflow.
LS: I appreciate consistency in your content and respect your business ethics. May you please give us an overview of your work?
JM: Building Personal Economies is my new mantra. I have realised over the years that my niche is teaching and training. I have worked as a creative who fell in love with Business, so merging those 2 with a platform we call *VBD Daily* made my journey worthwhile. I believe in Social Capital, and having over 500 YouTube videos in a space of 3 years on that platform proves that.
My work is grounded in *Videography and Photography*, so I build everything on top of that. DreamWall Pictures is a platform where we actually do the work, we shoot photographs, record videos, conceptualise them, script, audio capture, and podcasting.
Through Bold2create, we teach photography and videography, from a person who is a novice to a proper expert in either photography or videography. Because of my Love for business, I decided to create the VBD Daily platform to allow other peers and upcoming entrepreneurs to get nuggets that can help them succeed in life and business..(Again, this is a platform merged with business and media).
Lastly, we have *Be Kind to Yourself (The Real Deal Podcast)*, because before I can change the world, the person who changes first is me. We use the medium of podcasts, design catalogues, and photos to express this message. The goal is to encourage people to know they got this, and it starts with themselves to achieve their dreams. In everything we do, our pillar tools are videography, photography, and design, and with the advent of AI, this makes our work fun and exciting.
LS: What has been the most significant impact brought about by the work you do?
JM: It’s actually a person coming to me trying to understand a concept or seeking help to turn their business or skill around, and it made me triple my income. It confirms that I am indeed changing the world.
LS: In your line of business, what measures do you believe are likely to boost productivity in the country?
JM: One must just remain consistent with a vision. Anyone can make it in any career, but the direction you go with is what really matters. People misunderstand what I do and say I do many things, but they don’t know my Vision, which is Building Personal Economies. To achieve this, I use the tools of A.I, video, and photography. So yes, with Vision, we can be productive.
