WOLLO KOMBOLCHA — Ethiopian Airlines Group, Africa’s largest airline, has officially inaugurated a state-of-the-art airport in Wollo Kombolcha, reinforcing its commitment to boosting domestic and international connectivity.
The €12 million project features a 3,500-square-meter passenger terminal, a VIP terminal, a firefighting station, a water reservoir, parking areas, and new access roads. The facility was unveiled in the presence of Amhara Regional State President H.E. Arega Kebede, senior government officials, and Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew.
“We are delighted with the completion of our Wollo Kombolcha Airport construction project that will enhance our passengers’ experience,” said Tasew. “This development reflects our commitment to growing our domestic and international operations and supporting the socioeconomic growth of surrounding cities.”
Ethiopian Airlines operates daily flights to Kombolcha, with passengers now able to connect directly to Bahirdar without transiting through Addis Ababa. The project is part of the airline’s broader strategy to modernize and expand domestic aviation facilities, strengthening Ethiopia’s position as a key regional hub.
