CM: Raviro, your blog beautifully captures your modest fashion style, dining experiences, and travels across Zimbabwe. What inspired you to start this journey of content creation, and how has it evolved over time?

R: Thank you! I have always enjoyed being photographed. As a little girl my father used to take pictures of me and in high school I would do mini shoots with my friends during the weekends. When I went to uni I was fortunate to make friends with photographers so we would do shoots and I would just share on my Instagram. In 2020 there was so much time during the lockdown so I designed my blog on WordPress. In July, I decided to publish it and I also publicized my Instagram to showcase my style and adventures. As time went on I realised not so many people like reading so I stopped writing on my blog. In 2021 I started creating reels on Instagram and I created my Tiktok account to fully shift to video content. I have been enjoying that and I figured that is what works for me. Currently, my content is more focused on travel and dining experiences. At some point I have to bring the fashion aspect back.

CM: Showcasing Zimbabwe through your travels is a significant aspect of your work. What are some hidden gems or underrated spots you’ve discovered that you think everyone should visit?

R: Honestly, I have not been to many places so I am yet to unearth hidden gems but I think everyone should visit Hwange Safari Lodge. Out of all the places I have been to, it is my favourite. Imagine waking up to the view of wildlife drinking at the waterhole and then going on a late afternoon game drive in the Hwange National Park. The rooms are so beautiful I remember I had to Google the company that made their furniture because it’s perfect. If I could, I would move into the lodge and just live there.

CM: We all want to move to a Hwange lodge now lol.
As a modest fashion enthusiast, how do you balance personal style, your religious faith, with cultural influences while appealing to a diverse audience?

R: The primary reason I decided to start blogging was to showcase my modest style. There was a time I was not very confident in the dressing from my church. When that changed I thought to myself there could be a little girl somewhere feeling how I felt when I was younger. I share my style for that little girl wherever she may be. I have never felt like I needed to balance the three because my style is moulded by my religious faith and I do not care much for cultural influences. From my observation, my authenticity is what makes my content appealing to a diverse audience. You are not just seeing a woman dressed modestly, she’s doing cool things that she enjoys and being herself.

CM: Wow, that’s a rich answer and I felt that, owning yourself, and not for others!
You highlight dining experiences across Zimbabwe. Can you share some of your favorite restaurants or food experiences and what makes them stand out?

R: Oh I think this is a difficult question and my answer will be biased. I love pasta more than anything so for a restaurant to become a favorite they have to serve good pasta. So in terms of pasta I love Fig and Olive, Harry’s Cafe, Bistro Veldemeers and Cafe Veldemeers. Apart from that I have enjoyed the restaurant at Miombo Lodge, Kelly’s Kuttings and Three Monkeys for the ambiance, the service and the food.

CM: I love the ambiance at Three Monkeys too!
How do you approach collaborations and partnerships for travel, dining, and fashion content? What advice would you give to aspiring content creators looking to establish themselves in similar niches?

R: Collaborations and partnerships come in different ways, there is no clear cut formula. They look for you and you also look for them. One thing I always say about content creation is; do it because you enjoy it. I create content because I enjoy sharing my experiences and showcasing my style. If I go somewhere (whether I paid to go or I got paid to go) I will come back and make a reel and a Tiktok because I like doing that. There is someone out there who will see my work and approach me because they like what they see. I have been fortunate enough to have that happen a number of times. I also pitch myself to establishments I want to visit.

To any aspiring creators I will say, pick your niche based on your interests not because someone is doing something. The internet is vast and there is an audience for everyone. Be confident in what you do, understand the value you bring and communicate that value when you are pitching yourself. Do not be disheartened when you do not get responses or when they cannot take you on, keep pitching to more people. One day something will come through. There is one time I pitched myself for a collaboration and the establishment let me know they were not taking any collaborations at that time. Many months later they contacted me for a paid opportunity to showcase their place.

CM: Awesome, great nuggets there. So, looking ahead, what are your future goals for your blog and social media platforms? Are there any exciting projects or collaborations in the pipeline that your readers and followers can look forward to?

R: Ultimately, I would like to get into the international travel space but all in good time. Right now there is really nothing exciting in the pipeline, I just take each day as it comes. With that said, I am hoping for more travel opportunities around the country this year. Anybody with a link in the Eastern Highlands or safari experiences?
