The Makhosi Michaela Foundation, a 501c3 Non-Profit headquartered in Charlotte, NC, USA, was founded to provide assistance to individuals affected by Down Syndrome, and is set to launch some community initiatives in Zimbabwe.
The core mission revolves around fostering inclusivity and enhancing the lives of those with Down Syndrome through education, advocacy, and financial assistance.
“Despite our ambitious vision for the future, we understand the importance of starting small and addressing the most critical needs in the community first.” said Ntando Barbs Davis, the Co-Founder & Secretary.
Over the next 3-5 years, they aim to introduce various programs to fulfil the organisation’s objectives, with an initial focus on offering hope and support to the Down Syndrome community.
In March, Thurston, Makhosi, and Nthando will travel to Zimbabwe to initiate pilot programs and launch the initiatives. The primary objective is to develop programs tailored to the needs of individuals with Down Syndrome, encompassing improvements in quality of life, empowerment for individuals and caregivers, and advocacy and awareness-raising.
“We firmly believe that every individual, regardless of their abilities, deserves happiness and fulfillment.”
